The Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Studies Programme is taught at our campus in Wellington, New Zealand and online around the world. We aim to prepare all students for entry into Victoria University of Wellington and equip them with the skills to succeed.
We are ready to help you succeed in your studies. In order to ensure a smooth start, we have arranged a series of orientation activities for you, and in some cases your parents too, so that you are all set to begin classes as planned.
All sessions are held in New Zealand Standard Time.
Session 0: Onshore student registration session | ||

Students will need to report to the campus to complete their registration forms. Please bring your physical passport and visa with you. |
Session 1: Introduction to Victoria University of Wellington, UP International College and Subject Selection | ||
|
This session is designed to meet the Head of College and learn more about your chosen programme. There is also an opportunity at the end of the session to ask questions. |
Session 2: Introduction to Digital Tools | ||
|
Introduction to Blackboard which is our Learning Management System and where all resources will be available. Access to student email and how to navigate it. |
Session 3: Live Lesson 1 | ||
|
This session is the first of two Live Lessons on NZ Culture. This is to give students a taste of what online learning looks like, and to allow them to practise with the digital tools. At the end of this Live Lesson, the students will be given instructions and a code to access their Flexible Learning Activity that will need to be completed before the Live Lesson on the following day. |

Introduction to the Senior Leadership Team, Sonder and Student Services and their role, the Role of Tutors and Deans. |
Session 5: Getting the most out of your study | ||
|
Take students through tips and guidance for learning – both online and onsite. Making the most out of lesson times, how to communicate effectively with your teachers, planning your independent study time. |
Session 6: Live Lesson 2 | ||
|
This session is the second of two Live Lessons on NZ Culture. This is to give students a taste of what online learning looks like, and to allow them to practise with the digital tools. |
Session 7: Q&A with Head of College | ||
|
Open session for any questions that students might have before they commence their study. |
